Description

Vexcel UltraScan 5000 is a high precision photogrammetric scanner featuring two lamps (transmisive and reflective) and three CCD sensors capable of negative, slide and any other kind of transparent original with the utmost radiometric and geometric quality, allowing to differentiate even the subtlest tones in the shadows. It includes the powerful control software Vexcel UltraScan Center which allows full adjusting and quality control of any produced image.

One of the main features of this scanner is autocalibration, which allows geometry real-time control using superimposed band border redundancy. Thus Vexcel UltraScan 5000 R.M.S. is better than ±2.0 µm (with the autocalibration turned off R.M.S. is still better than ±4.0 µm).

Vexcel UltraScan 5000 CCD matrices are cooled using a Peltier system which allows a significant image noise reduction. Its lamps are monitored and controlled to obtain maximum stability, including temperature an working-time effects compensation, thus obtaining an exceptional 3.6 D density range. When the basic range (0.0 D – 3.6 D) is not enough, the base point can be moved to 0.4 D to obtain a maximum density of 4.0 D.

Vexcel UltraScan 5000 offers multiple optical resolutions to offer unique choice posibilities regarding quality and speed. Native optical resolutions are 5080 dpi (5 µm/pixel) for the first lens and 868 dpi (29 µm/pixel) for the second lens. Moreover, "Pinning" technique (similar to exposure time control during the CCD sensor movement) allows to obtain direct optical resolutions with values which are direct multipliers of those: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 29 and 58 µm/pixel. Any other value can be obtained resampling from the immediately lower value.

To allow production quality control, the Vexcel UltraScan 5000 offers the next features:

  • Information file: An information file containing metadata (date, name, size, resolution, etc.) is generated for each digitized image.
  • Histogram: It gives information on the number of pixels per digital value, channel-distributed, and also saturation, and average and standard deviation values.
  • Fiducial marks: An image file exclusively representing the photography's fiducial marks for quality control.
  • "Quick-view" files: These are compressed copies of the image scaled down in a 1:100 ratio, in TIFF or JPG format.
  • Deviation check: Graphical and text file containing deviation values for each point to check the geometric quality of the scanned image.

Vexcel UltraScan 5000 photogrammetric scanner significantly reduces precision's mechanical dependency (in a similar fashion as the analogic to analitic stereoplotter transition) mathematically modelling the different build remainders. It combines precision splindle and incremental motor mechanic, with three intelligent geometric calibrations.

Advantages

  • Automatic light and shades detection: By searching maximum and minimum density points in an interior range determined by the user, it generates a finely adjusted image  avoiding saturation at any of its edges.
  • 8/12/16 bits or density radiometric manipulation.
  • Complete histogram adjust and visualization: It allows visualization and adjust of saturation, average and standard deviation, and pixel number per channel before any scan.
  • Brightness gamma and curve adjusting.
  • Memory remaining control for each job.
  • Digitizing time constant visualization.
  • Possibility of rotating previous or scanned final images.
  • Easy calibration and diagnostic from the user interface.

Optional parts

Vexcel UltraScan 5000 can be provided with an optional manual or automatic film roll feeder. Both are compatible with the main market film types, and the automatic one allows to easily select the photos to scan, allowing a limited non-stop scan which increases production and the income per scanned image ratio spectacularly.

Other possible optional parts are:

  • External automatic internal-orientation module.
  • "Photogrammetric kit", which includes grid calibration glass, color and gray density targets and cleaning products such as cleaner fluid, gloves and antistatic dusters.
  • Perfect-fit mounting aid to scan cut originals (it allows online scanner calibration on basic configuration).
  • Target Kit comprising geometric and color and gray density targets.
  • "AntiNewton" glass: This glass, exclusively designed by Vexcel, presents an extremely fine rough surface which gets rid of those painful Newton Rings from the final image without losing any geometric precision.
